Florida DEP Schedules Second Workshop on Panhandle Estuary Numeric Nutrient Criteria

Following up on the first round of workshops held July 24 and 25, 2012, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection scheduled the second workshop to discuss numeric nutrient standards for estuaries located in the Florida Panhandle.  Estuaries and marine waters were specifically excluded from the rulemaking (and related litigation) that were focused on lakes, streams and springs.

The estuaries covered by the draft rule include Perdido Bay, Pensacola Bay (including Escambia Bay), Choctawhatchee Bay, St. Andrews Bay, St. Joseph’s Bay, and Apalachicola Bay.

Detailed reports providing site-specific information in support of establishing numeric nutrient criteria for each estuary can be found in the links below:

Information for the second workshop:

DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, September 5, 2012, 9:00 a.m. EDT
PLACE: Florida Department of Environmental Protection, 2600 Blair Stone Road, Room 609, Tallahassee, Florida
